MIDDLESBROUGHVPORTSMOUTH

Match insight

Middlesbrough and Portsmouth aren't close on the table right now, and that gap shows up everywhere from points to form. Middlesbrough currently sit 14 places and 10 points above Portsmouth in the table — 2nd against 16th and inside the automatic promotion places. Middlesbrough have taken 11 points from their last 5, against 8 for Portsmouth over the same stretch. Form and table position both point the same way here, but a class gap on paper is still no guarantee on the day for Middlesbrough against a motivated Portsmouth.
